Our world time zone converter uses JavaScript's built-in Intl.DateTimeFormat API to calculate the precise time in any city without requiring any external data, API calls or server connections. It displays both an analogue clock face and a digital readout for both source and target cities simultaneously, updating live every second. A natural-language summary states the conversion in plain English — "When it is 14:00 in Istanbul, it is 12:00 in London" — making it instantly useful for scheduling international calls, remote work check-ins or travel planning without mental arithmetic.

What is a time zone and how are they determined?

Time zones are geographical regions that observe a uniform standard time. The world is divided into 24 primary time zones, each roughly 15° of longitude wide (though political and geographical boundaries mean real-world zones are irregular). All time zones are expressed as offsets from UTC (Coordinated Universal Time) — formerly known as GMT (Greenwich Mean Time). UTC+3 means a region that is 3 hours ahead of UTC; UTC-5 is 5 hours behind. Many countries also observe Daylight Saving Time (DST), which shifts clocks forward by one hour in summer — creating two different offsets for the same country across the year. Our tool uses the IANA timezone database through the Intl API for accurate, automatically DST-adjusted conversions. Pair with our Date Calculator for full scheduling precision.
